导读:10月14日下午,国务院新闻办发表了《中国的粮食安全》白皮书,向国际社会全面介绍了中国的粮食自给能力、对世界粮食安全的影响和贡献、粮食支持政策、粮食市场开放等问题。

When you walk into a convenience store and order a rice dish for lunch, it’s the end of a long and complicated supply chain. Imagine going in one day and finding out they have no rice and they don’t know when they will have it again.
当你走进便利店买份米饭当午餐时,这就是一条长且复杂的供应链的最后一环。想象一下有朝一日便利店里没有米饭,也不知道何时能再次供应米饭的场景,会是什么样。

On Oct 14, China released only its second-ever white paper on food security. The new report, titled Food Security in China, “highlighted the country’s success in feeding its growing population and laid out plans to improve food safety and expand global cooperation,” reported Xinhua.
10月14日,中国发表了第二部关于粮食安全的白皮书。据新华社报道,这份名为《中国的粮食安全》的新报告,“突出展现了国家在解决不断增长的人口吃饭问题上所取得的成就,并提出了加强粮食安全,发展全球合作的规划。”

The previous food security white paper, released in 1996, aimed at answering the question “Who will feed China?”
1996年发布的粮食安全白皮书旨在回答“谁来养活中国人”的问题。

More than 20 years on, facts prove that China has fulfilled its promise. That’s according to Li Guanglu, an expert at a committee on national food security policy, in an interview with the Global Times.
国家粮食安全政策专家咨询委员会的专家李光禄在接受《环球时报》采访时认为,20多年过去,事实证明,中国实现了当时的承诺。

The new paper says that China has achieved self-sufficiency in grain supply. In 2018, China’s grain output reached 610 million tons, accounting for more than 90 percent of the total food output in the country, an increase of 160 million tons since 1996. Currently, China’s per capita food output is around 470 kilograms. It’s grown by 14 percent, from 414 kg, since 1996.
这份新报告指出,中国在谷物供应方面已经实现了自给自足。2018年,我国谷物产量为6.1亿吨,占粮食总产量的90%以上,比1996年增加了1.6亿吨。目前,中国人均粮食占有量达到470公斤左右,比1996年的414公斤增长了14%。

With the steady improvement of China’s comprehensive grain production capacity, domestic consumers’ needs have shifted from “having enough food” to “having quality food,” Li said.
随着我国谷物综合生产力的逐步提高,国内消费者的需求已经从“吃得饱”变为“吃得好”了,李光禄表示。

Thanks to the surplus, the Chinese have more choices and healthier diets.
这些盈余的粮食产量让中国人有了更多选择,饮食也变得更加健康。

With sufficient intake of the three major nutrients -proteins, fats and carbohydrates, Chinese citizens have an adequate supply of dietary energy. The proportion of carbohydrate intake has fallen, while fats and proteins have risen.
中国人民膳食能量得到充足供给,蛋白质、脂肪、碳水化合物三大营养素供能充足。碳水化合物供能比下降,脂肪供能比上升,优质蛋白质摄入增加。

As well as helping people domestically, China has also helped many people internationally. Su Wei, deputy secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission, said China will continue to participate in global cooperation in food security by investing in countries and regions that have such needs.
在令本国人民受益的同时,中国也在国际上帮助了许多民众。国家发改委副秘书长苏伟表示,通过在有需要的国家和地区开展农业投资,中国将继续参与粮食安全方面的全球合作。

“We hope to see hunger and poverty eradicated from the world as soon as possible,” Su said.
“我们希望能够早日看到饥饿和贫困从地球上消失,”苏伟说道。
