Director Liu Xiaoping and Party chief Liao Xuzhen were sacked for "poor management of the station" after a reporter took photographs of officers helping passengers.
站长刘小平、书记廖栩珍因被拍摄到一张铁路人员协助乘客爬窗上车的照片，而被指“管理不力”遭免职。

"They (the pictures) showed the station was in chaos and the management was ineffective," a Guangzhou Railway Group spokeswoman said.
“照片显示火车站一团混乱，管理不力。”广铁集团的一位发言人称。

Liao declined to comment on the issue when contacted by Guangzhou Daily on Saturday, but he said he had already left his job.
上周六，《广州日报》联系到廖栩珍时，他表示不想评论这个事情；但他表示已被免职。

In the trouble-making photos, passengers were trying to climb into a train through the windows, with their bodies halfway into the cabins and legs hanging out. Some staffers were pushing the passengers to help them get in.

The train in the photos was No 1247 from Shenzhen to Xinyang, Henan province on Jan 25. It stopped at Dongguan for four minutes, while there were over 1,500 passengers waiting to get on to the train, an officer at the station was quoted by local media as saying on Saturday.
照片拍到的是1月25日由深圳开往河南信阳的1247次列车。该车次在东莞的停留时间只有4分钟，而当天候车的乘客超过1500人，上周六，东莞一家媒体援引该站官员的话说。

"It was impossible for all the passengers to get on to the train in such a short time period. The staffers were just kindly giving a hand so the passengers could get home for Spring Festival. We never expected such a serious consequence," the officer said.
“在那么短的时间内，乘客不可能全部上车。工作人员只是好心地想帮那些春节回家的乘客。我们没有想到后果会这么严重。”该官员表示。拍摄该照片的，《东莞日报》记者郑林东对于此事也深感内疚。

"I haven`t called Liu and Liao yet, and it`s useless to say sorry," Zheng was quoted by a local media as saying on Saturday.
“我还没有联系他们俩，说对不起已经没有用了。”上周六当地的一家媒体采访郑林东时，他表示。

The directors` removal has stirred hot online discussion, and most netizens were sympathetic to the two officials.
东莞站领导被免事件引起网络热议，大多数网友对于两位官员的遭遇表示同情。

A related survey conducted by Sina.com, a major news portal, collected 85,723 votes by 5:00 pm yesterday, in which 84.5 percent voters said they were against the sacking of Liu and Liao. Only 12 percent supported the decision, and the remaining 3.5 percent said they were undecided.
在新浪发起的一项相关调查中，截止昨日下午5点，共有85723人参与投票；其中84.5%的投票者反对该免职决定。只有12%的人支持该决定，仍有3.5%表示拿不定主意。

Online comments show those who disagreed with the dismissal of the officials thought the railway officers were just showing they were sympathetic to the passengers. The inefficient transportation system should be blamed for the chaos, the voters said.
网上评论显示，那些反对该免职决定的网友认为东莞站领导只是同情乘客。参与投票的网友表示，运输系统失效应当归咎于混乱的场面。

6楼   Frankbeard 2010-02-05 21:50:28 If the two dismissed officials were just sympathetic to the passengers who bought the tickets through the right channel, then I am also a little sympathetic to them losing their job againt their original purpose. However, I am not sympathetic to another commone fact resulted from these officials also helping their special relations to take their privileges, just because of their hats and uniform. What's more, if these two officials could help those passengers who perhaps had no relationship with themselves, but who can tell it? 10楼   21英语广东省深圳市网友 2010-02-09 14:49:22 If The two officials show their sympathy to the peoples who were eager to catch the train and no relation with them, it is good behavour to help others, but is not very reasonal way to solve the problem, if everybody wants to get on the train through window, it is so dangerous and makes big chaos, which can be uncontroable for train staff. what is more, we hope the governmnet attach more importance to build more rail and open more trail lines to relief this kind of things. Or consider to open more high speed train, reduce the cost of airplane during holidays..............  我顶   我踩   回复(0)
