U.S. President Joe Biden intends to run for re-election in 2024, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Monday.

"He is. That's his intention," Psaki said as Biden flew aboard Air Force One for a Thanksgiving event with U.S. troops in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

《华盛顿邮报》20日曾报道称，拜登和其顾问近期一直在向盟友保证，拜登计划寻求连任。 他们正在采取措施，来转移人们对这位79岁的总统承诺参加2024年竞选的顾虑，以及民主党对共和党即将卷土重来的担忧。  




President Biden and members of his inner circle have reassured allies in recent days that he plans to run for reelection in 2024, as they take steps to deflect concern about the 79-year-old president's commitment to another campaign and growing Democratic fears of a coming Republican return to power.

U.S. President Joe Biden's approval rating dropped to a new low of 38%, showed a poll conducted by USA Today and Suffolk University on November 7.

Biden would be 82 at the start of his second term, if reelected. He was already the oldest individual to be inaugurated when he was sworn in in January.

Biden received his first physical examination last Friday since taking office in January，which found the president to be “healthy,” “vigorous” and working out five days a week. His doctor described a stiffer walking gait in recent years, which he attributed to spinal arthritis, and some acid reflux that has caused him to repeatedly clear his throat.

《国会山报》称，拜登曾在2020年的民主党初选中表示，他认为自己是民主党内的过渡人物，是能够击败时任总统特朗普的独特人选。而特朗普有意参选2024年大选的前景，可能会促使拜登再次竞选。  

Biden said during the 2020 Democratic primary he viewed himself as a transitional figure within the party, but one who was uniquely positioned to beat then-President Donald Trump. The prospect of Trump seeking reelection in 2024 could contribute to Biden's desire to run again.
