Beijing has raised its emergency response to the novel coronavirus epidemic from the third to second level, said Chen Bei, deputy secretary-general of Beijing municipal government, on Tuesday night at a press conference. The epidemic situation in Beijing remains grim, as the city has been reporting a daily double-digit growth in domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases since June 11, after a 57-day period featuring no new domestically transmitted cases.
