On Nov 23, the US General Services Administration told Joe Biden that he can formally begin the presidential transition process, which also means that US President Donald Trump is heading into the lame duck period of his presidency, noted USA Today. Although he has not conceded defeat, Trump tweeted that he has recommended that the GSA “do what needs to be done”, and said he has directed his team to facilitate Biden’s transition.

马上学：Lame duck这里指任期即将结束且不再连任的从政者，其本身正在失去实际权力。日常中也可指弱者、能力或成就落后的人。“跛脚鸭”的概念源于18世纪中期，当时伦敦证券交易所的股票经纪人用这个词来形容那些拖欠债务的经纪人，后用于政治领域。
