据央视新闻报道，23日，印度累计新冠肺炎确诊病例突破3000万例，成为继美国之后又一个超过这一数字的国家。

根据印度卫生部23日公布的数据，该国新增新冠肺炎确诊病例5万余例，累计确诊病例超过3002万例；新增死亡1358例。

India has reported more than 30 million Covid-19 cases since the pandemic started last year.

Government data showed there were 50,848 infections recorded over a 24-hour period on Wednesday, bringing the total reported cases to 30.02 million. The reported daily death toll was 1,358.

The United States is the only country in the world that has reported more cases than India.

近期，“德尔塔”毒株(印度首先报告的B.1.617.2变异新冠病毒)在全球快速蔓延。据美国全国广播公司财经频道(CNBC)报道，日前，世卫组织曾表示，“德尔塔”毒株已传播至全球超过80个国家和地区，正成为全球流行的主要新冠毒株。

A highly contagious variant of the coronavirus — known as the delta variant — was first reported in India and is reportedly partially responsible for the rapid rise in cases there.

It has since spread rapidly around the world and is found in more than 80 countries and regions. The World Health Organization said delta is becoming the dominant variant of the disease worldwide.

而近日随着单日新增确诊病例数下降，印度许多邦和地区都开始逐渐放宽防疫限制措施。据《今日印度》网站 (India Today)报道，印度的一些邦计划重新开放学校，让学生到校上课。

The decline in Covid-19 cases in recent weeks has prompted states to begin loosening restrictions, including the planned resumption of in-classroom teaching for schools and colleges.

A third wave of coronavirus infections is likely to hit India by October, and although it will be better controlled than the latest outbreak the pandemic will remain a public health threat for at least another year, according to a Reuters poll of medical experts.
