据《金融时报》(Financial Times)报道，美国中央情报局（CIA）局长伯恩斯近日表示，他将成立“中国任务中心”(China Mission Center)，以应对所谓“中国威胁”。

The CIA has created a new office focused on China, in a sign of the Biden administration’s growing efforts to counter what the US intelligence agency’s chief described as its “increasingly adversarial” government.

Announcing the expansion on Oct 7, CIA director Bill Burns said the spy agency would be at “the forefront” of “facing our toughest geopolitical test in a new era of great power rivalry”.

“[The China mission centre] will further strengthen our collective work on the most important geopolitical threat we face in the 21st century, an increasingly adversarial Chinese government,” Burns added.

报道中还指出，伯恩斯今年7月在接受美国国家公共电台（NPR）采访时就曾表示，想要招募更多会说普通话的特工以及网络专家。“我们与中国竞争的能力很大程度上在于高级别员与外交官的通力合作。他们需要能驾驭应对各种复杂的社会，要能比中国人更能发展和发挥影响力。”

Burns said in July he wanted to recruit more Mandarin speakers and cyber experts. “[O]ur ability to compete with China... depends a lot on having officers working with diplomats who can navigate these societies and, you know, develop and exercise influence better than the Chinese can,” he told NPR.

另据央视网消息，除了普通话之外，中情局还希望特工掌握粤语、上海话、客家话等方言。

A video clip widely circulated by Chinese media in recent days alleged that the CIA was recruiting agents fluent in Chinese languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka and Shanghainese.

“这是典型的冷战思维表现。美方有关部门应客观理性看待中国发展和中美关系，停止做损害中美两国互信合作和中国主权安全发展利益的事。”

“This is a typical symptom of the Cold War mentality. Relevant US agency should view China's development and China-US relations in an objective and rational light and stop doing things detrimental to mutual trust and cooperation between China and the US and China's sovereignty, security and development interests.”
