It's gonna be OK," Biden, who was unmasked while standing outside on the Truman Balcony, said in the 20-second video. He has begun taking Paxlovid and will isolate at the White House and continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time, the statement said. The White House also said it will provide a daily update on Biden's status.

His wife, Jill Biden, tweeted earlier that Biden told her "he's feeling fine," with "a few mild symptoms." The U.S. first lady added that she tested negative for COVID-19 in the morning and would continue to follow public health guidance and wear a mask.

Biden said Wednesday that he has cancer during a speech about global warming in which the president described emissions from oil refineries near his childhood home in Claymont, Del.

It’s unclear why Biden chose to use the present verb tense to describe his experience with cancer.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates referred The Post to a tweet from Washington Post columnist Glenn Kessler, who noted that Biden had “non-melanoma skin cancers” removed before he took office.
