China held its annual two sessions from March 4 to 11.
一年一度的全国两会于今年3月4日-11日召开。

On March 5, Premier Li Keqiang delivered the Government Work Report at the opening meeting of the fourth session of the 13th National People’s Congress. It reviewed the government work over the past year and maps out an overall blueprint for the next five years and beyond. A number of key words highlighted the country’s goals. Let’s take a look at a few.
3月5日，李克强总理在第十三届全国人民代表大会第四次会议的开幕会上作政府工作报告。报告回顾了政府过去一年的工作，并为接下来的五年甚至更远的未来描绘了整体蓝图。一系列热词体现了我国的发展目标。让我们来看看其中几个。

Development
“发展”

The word “development” was mentioned 140 times in the report.
“发展”一词在报告中出现了140次。

China will give priority to high-quality development this year, setting its GDP growth target at above 6 percent. To promote high-quality development in the coming years, the report notes that China should create a new development pattern – “dual circulation”. The new pattern has the domestic market as the mainstay of the economy, while domestic and international markets support each other. This means that in addition to ensuring supply capacity for its exports, China will focus more on expanding domestic demand and stimulating consumption.
我国今年将坚持高质量发展，发展主要预期目标是国内生产总值增长6%以上。为了在未来的几年中推动高质量发展，报告指出我国应构建“双循环”的新发展格局，即以国内大循环为主体、国内国际双循环相互促进。这意味着，除了稳定出口外，我国还会更加关注内需，刺激消费。

Green development is also a significant issue. According to Xinhua, China will take more measures to push the green transformation of industries and promote the wider use of clean energy, which plays a key role in achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. To achieve this goal, China will also have a steady growth of forest coverage, from 23.04 percent in 2020 to 24.1 by 2025.
绿色发展也是一大重要话题。据新华社报道，我国将采取更多措施来促进产业绿色转型，推广清洁能源更广泛的使用，这为我国在2060年前力争实现碳中和起到重要作用。为实现这一目标，我国的森林覆盖率还将从2020年的23.04%提高到2025年的24.1%。

Ensure
“保”

Ensuring the well-being of the people remains at the forefront. The report says that the government will make every effort to solve housing difficulties, especially those faced by new urban residents and young people.
保障民生依然是工作的重心。报告指出，政府将尽最大努力帮助新市民、青年人等缓解住房困难。

Apart from shelter, people also need access to healthcare. According to the report, government subsidies for basic medical insurance for rural and non-working urban residents will increase by an average of 30 yuan per person this year. Subsidies for basic public health services will also increase. Fees for more medicines will be covered by the government to lighten the burden on patients.
除了住房之外，人们也需要医疗保障。报告指出，今年农村以及无业城镇居民的医保人均财政补助再增30元。基本公共卫生服务补助也有所增加。政府还会把更多药品纳入集中带量采购，减轻患者负担。

Build
“建设”

Education has always been, and continues to be, an important sector included in the government work report. The new plan says that China will build an education system that ensures the well-rounded development of students in the next five years.
教育一直是并将继续是政府工作报告中的一项重要内容。新规划表明，我国将在未来五年内建设培养学生全面发展的教育体系。

In addition, the government will make all-around efforts to build a healthy China.
此外，政府还全面推进健康中国建设。

“It is widely believed that China, with concrete measures, will achieve the targets it has set for itself in the next five years, paving the way for the realization of the goals of Vision 2035,” Liu Qiao, the dean of the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, wrote on China Daily.
“人们普遍认为，有了这些具体措施，中国将在未来五年内实现设立的这些目标，并为实现2035年远景目标打好基础，”北京大学光华管理学院院长刘俏在《中国日报》上如此写道。
