5月29日，美国总统特朗普宣布美国计划取消上千中国研究生和研究人员的美国签证。据《纽约时报》报道，预计受影响的学生专业包括科学、技术、工程和数学，此前美国政府宣称这些学生可能造成美国技术失窃。6月2日，中国外交部发言人赵立坚表示，美方出台措施限制中国留学人员赴美签证，严重侵犯中国留学人员正当权益。

On May 29, US President Donald Trump announced that the US is planning to cancel the visas of thousands of Chinese graduate students and researchers. According to The New York Times, potentially affected students are those studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as the US government alleges  that their presence presents threats of technology theft. On June 2, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that the US visa restriction severely underminedlegitimate  rights and interests of Chinese students and researchers.

马上学：赵立坚表示美国以“莫须有的罪名(flimsy excuses)”出台措施限制中国留学人员赴美签证，是“开历史倒车(take a backward step)，只会损人害己(only bring harm to oneself and others)。”
