巴西总统博索纳罗7日上午在当地多家媒体联合直播中宣布，他本人6日进行的新冠病毒检测结果为阳性。

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced on Tuesday that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

据CNN报道，博索纳罗表示，他5日开始感觉身体不适，6日情况加剧，出现乏力、肌肉酸痛等症状，体温最高达到38度，总统府医生认为他可能感染新冠病毒。随后，他前往医院进行肺部X光检查。

"On Sunday, I wasn't feeling very well. On Monday, it got worse when I started feeling tired and some muscle pain. I also had a 38-degree [Celsius] fever. Given those symptoms, the presidential doctor said there was suspicion of Covid-19," Bolsonaro said, adding that he then went to hospital to receive a lung scan.

博索纳罗在接受巴西电视媒体采访时公布这一结果，他说“每个人都知道，新冠早晚会影响到相当一部分人口。我现在检测呈阳性。我不再与任何人会面，所有活动将通过视频会议形式进行。”

Bolsonaro himself announced the result, speaking on Brazilian TV channels Tuesday. "Everyone knew that it would reach a considerable part of the population sooner or later. It was positive for me," he said, referring to the Covid-19 test he took Monday. "I'm not going to see anyone for meetings. Everything will be done via video conference," he said.

尽管目前尚无科学研究表明存在针对新冠病毒的特效药，但博索纳罗表示，他已经服用羟氯喹和阿奇霉素，症状在6日晚得到缓解，目前感觉良好。

外媒：抗疫不力，“忽视新冠严重性”

博索纳罗还说，病毒极为致命，对于像他一样的65岁以上老年人以及那些有合并症和其他疾病的的人尤其如此。

"We know the fatality of the virus for those of a certain age, like me, above 65, as well as for those with comorbidities, diseases, other issues. In those cases, the virus could be decisive and lead to death," he said.

这番表态与博索纳罗之前的说法并不相符。据BBC报道，今年4月，博索纳罗说即使他感染病毒，也“不会担心”，因为自己可能没什么感觉，就像是很轻微的流感或者感冒着凉。

Back in April, Bolsonaro said that even if infected, he would "not have to worry as I wouldn't feel anything, at most it would be like a little flu or a little cold".




对于新冠病毒，BBC在报道中罗列了几条博索纳罗的言论，包括“其他类型流感的死亡人数比新冠多（3月11日）”，“巴西热带气候，新冠疫情已经到了尾声或者已经结束了……病毒不会在我们这样的炎热天气传播（3月18日）”，“我不会被轻微流感击倒（3月20日）”
 

  
CNN也认为，博索纳罗一直以来都没有重视疫情的严重性。
 


博索纳罗经常不戴口罩现身公共场所或参加集会，甚至与支持者拥抱。

Bolsonaro has often appeared in public and at rallies without a face mask, even hugging supporters.

今年3月，博索纳罗曾率团访问美国，回到巴西后代表团中二十多名成员检测呈阳性。之后博索纳罗进行了3次新冠病毒检测，结果均呈阴性。

The president was tested three times in March, following a trip to the U.S. in which 20 members of his delegation or people he met with later tested positive for COVID-19.
 


今年4月，博索纳罗参加反对封城隔离的集会，没戴口罩的同时还被拍到咳嗽的画面。




此外，7月4日美国独立日当天，博索纳罗曾携多名巴西官员同美国驻巴西大使聚餐，席间众人均未戴口罩。

This week's positive result comes just days after he attended a July 4th commemoration event with the US Ambassador to Brazil.

另据路透社报道，博索纳罗处理疫情的方式也遭到公共卫生专家的批评，他反对巴西各州、市的社交距离政策，并且声称因此产生的经济影响远比疾病本身严重。他还解雇了两任卫生部长，而这两人都是医生出身。

Bolsonaro’s handling of the crisis has drawn criticism from public health experts as he fought state and city efforts to impose social distancing, arguing that the economic damage would be worse than the disease itself. He has fired two health ministers during the pandemic, both trained doctors.

巴西疫情形势

根据世卫组织统计，截至北京时间8日17时，巴西新冠肺炎确诊病例超166万，死亡超6.6万，这两项仅次于美国。

Brazil is second only to the United States in numbers of coronavirus infections and deaths. 

“我不得不承认，我觉得自己可能此前就感染了,”博索纳罗周二表示，“由于我接触了人群，我认为我此前已经感染但是自己并不知道，就如同很多感染病毒的巴西民众一样，并不知情。” 然而新冠病毒检测在巴西并非易事，有些当地专家预计实际感染人数可能是现有数据的12-16倍。

"I have to admit, I thought I had gotten it earlier," he said on Tuesday. "Because of my contact with the people, I thought I had contracted it already and not noticed it, like the majority of the Brazilian population that contracts the virus, and doesn't know," he continued. With coronavirus tests hard to come by in the country, some local experts say the real number of people infected could be 12 to 16 times higher.

然而，博索纳罗在新冠检测呈阳性后接受采访时，却还做出了令人担忧的举动：他退后几步摘掉口罩，并称这是为了让记者看清自己的脸，证明他身体状况良好……



Bolsonaro stepped back and removed his mask to reveal a smile, adding: “You can see from my face that I’m well and I’m calm.”
