获奖影片《无依之地》改编自杰西卡·布鲁德2017年的纪实小说《荒原》，由曾凭《三块广告牌》拿下奥斯卡影后的弗兰西斯·麦克多蒙德主演，该片聚焦美国的边缘族群“房车族”，讲述了一位因经济大萧条而一无所有的女人，如何成为居住在货车里的现代游牧民、穿越美国西部的故事。

Adapted from American journalist Jessica Bruder's 2017 non-fiction book "Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century", the film stars actress Frances McDormand as a 62-year-old woman who travels in the vast lands of America in order to explore life as a modern-day nomad.

 

获奖感言中，赵婷引用了《无依之地》中人物关于同情心的一段话。“同理心能打破人们之间的隔阂，是人们心灵相通的纽带（Compassion is the breakdown of all the barriers between us. A heart to heart bonding.）。”赵婷说这就是她拍电影的原因，“因为它给了我们一起欢笑与哭泣的机会，互相学习的机会，以及彼此产生更多同理心的机会。”

1982年生于北京的赵婷成为金球奖78年历史上第一位夺取最佳导演奖的亚洲女性，也是继芭芭拉·史翠珊之后第二位夺取金球奖最佳导演的女性。《无依之地》同时也成为金球奖历史上第一部摘取剧情类最佳影片奖的女性导演作品。

 

芭芭拉·史翠珊曾在1984年凭借音乐喜剧类电影《燕特尔》（Yentl）获得最佳导演奖，是此前唯一一位获得金球奖最佳导演荣誉的女性。她也在社交媒体平台上发声，为赵婷送上祝福↓

Song Dandan, a famous actress and the stepmother of Zhao, sent her greetings on Sina Weibo, saying every award won by Zhao has surpassed the family's expectations, bringing them huge joy.

 

“一个不懂英文的中国女孩，16岁出国求学，选择了一条我们从不看好但也只能尊重的道路。今天，在人家的主场拼人家的强项，取得了这样的认可，创造了这样的记录。”

 

"As a Chinese girl who didn't speak English before she went to study abroad at 16 years old, Zhao has chosen a path that we were once not optimistic about (its future) but still showed our respect. But she has achieved such recognition today in the (Hollywood's) major 'battlefield' in the field of what they excel at," said Song.

影片《无依之地》2020年亮相后，先后夺取了威尼斯国际电影节最佳影片金狮奖（回顾请戳）以及多伦多国际电影节“人民选择奖”，并在今年好莱坞电影颁奖季中获得一连串重要奖项。目前，该片已获得90多座奖项，是竞争今年奥斯卡金像奖的热门影片。

After debuting in international film events since autumn last year, Nomadland has been a favorite of many major festivals, exemplifying its victorious win of the Golden Lion Award as the best film at the 2020 Venice International Film Festival.

 

So far, the film has received more than 90 awards, making it a sought-after contender in the upcoming Oscars.

Zhao is one of Hollywood’s hottest new talents. With a short yet glittering resume, she has garnered attention from her directorial debut Songs My Brothers Taught Me in 2015 before accumulating more popularity for the award-winning The Rider in 2017. She currently is making the next Marvel movie, The Eternals.

As a quick response to connect more to the Chinese audience, Walt Disney's 20th Century Studios announced on its Sina Weibo account that Nomadland will be released in Chinese mainland via the Nationwide Alliance of Arthouse Cinemas starting April 23.

 

而在片方发布的一段视频中，赵婷表示自己很高兴能听到《无依之地》在中国上映的消息。“这部电影汇聚了很多人的热情、努力，甚至他们自己的人生故事。希望通过他们的故事，你会去寻找属于自己的生活，成为自己人生故事的作者！”

In a video statement released from Disney on Sunday, Zhao said she is glad to hear the film will be released in China.

 

"This movie has brought together the enthusiasm and hard work of many people, even their own life stories. I hope that through their stories, you (Chinese audience) will find your own life and become the author of your own life story," said Zhao in the video.

The global COVID-19 pandemic delayed the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards by almost two months.

 

But on Feb 28, the storied Hollywood ceremony kicked off in full swing as movie stars flocked (in person and also virtually) to the venue, the famed Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, for their red carpet appearance.

 

The Golden Globes had a different format than any previous year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic; hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehloer hosted the show on different sides of the US with a social distanced audience made up of first responders. 

 

Tina hosted from New York City's Rainbow Room while Amy hosted from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills in Los Angeles.

 

While some celebrities were at the awards ceremony in person as presenters, most watched from their homes, sharing images of their luxury gowns from their garden or in their living room with their family; Other stars, like Amanda Seyfried donned her glamorous dress at a nearby hotel to watch and present an awards during the show.
