Returning success

Once again, actor Wang Kai has given a praise-worthy performance in an impressive TV series.
演员王凯又一次在一部备受好评的电视剧中呈现了令人称赞叫绝的表演。

Set during China’s economic reform in the 1980s to 1990s, Like a Flowing River 2 tells the story of three young entrepreneurs striving for success. When the series ended on Jan 11, it had a score of 9.1 out of 10 on Douban.
《大江大河2》以上世纪80-90年代中国的经济改革为背景，讲述了三名年轻创业者的奋斗故事。1月11日，这部电视剧迎来大结局，豆瓣评分高达9.1分。

Wang, 38, was praised for his performance in the role of ambitious technician Song Yunhui. For Wang, the most challenging part of the role was learning and memorizing the vast amount of technical terms required for the part. He put forth particular effort to familiarize himself with the trade in preparation.
38岁的王凯在剧中饰演拥有雄心壮志的技术员宋运辉一角，演技备受好评。对王凯而言，出演这一角色最大的挑战是学习和记忆海量的专业术语。他在准备角色时下了大功夫来熟悉这一行业。

But fans who are familiar with Wang’s work are not likely surprised by this level of dedication.
不过，对熟悉王凯作品的粉丝们而言，其敬业程度似乎在意料之中。

Following his father’s advice, Wang chose to begin his career at a bookstore without taking the gaokao. Still, he managed to be admitted to The Central Academy of Drama in 2003 at the age of 21. Despite playing many characters, he didn’t make a name for himself until in 2015 when he got parts in The Disguiser and Nirvana in Fire.
王凯当年没有参加高考，而是听从了父亲的建议选择去书店上班。2003年，21岁的他最终还是考入了中央戏剧学院。尽管他演了不少角色，却一直寂寂无名。直到2015年，他因参演《伪装者》和《琅琊榜》才为人熟知。

Wang has made less appearances on variety shows and taken on less roles in recent years in order to focus on improving his acting skills.
近几年，为了专注于提升演技，王凯很少参加综艺节目，也放慢了接戏脚步。

“I would be strict with myself by performing better. I think, it’s my responsibility to to make the audience satisfied,” Wang told People’s Daily.
“演好戏是对自己的严格要求，令观众满意也是我的责任，”王凯在接受《人民日报》采访时如此表示。
