民主党副总统候选人乔－拜登表示，当今的领袖应该从历史书中汲取教训，而且要仿效已故的美国总统罗斯福，学习他如何对金融危机做出反应。

Vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says today's leaders should take a lesson from the history books and follow fellow Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt's response to a financial crisis.

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed.

据悉，1929年10月股市暴跌时美国总统为共和党的胡佛。

Republican Herbert Hoover was in office when the stock market crashed in October 1929.

3年后，胡佛角逐连任失败，罗斯福当选总统。

FDR was elected three years later when voters denied Hoover a second term.
